For three quarters Tuesday, the Huntsville girls basketball team looked like it was going to snap its two-game skid.
But in the final four minutes, things came unraveled. Bryan Rudder came back to take the lead in the fourth quarter and held on for an 82-75 victory over the Lady Hornets.
Huntsville dropped to 1-3 on the season with the loss.
“We were leading the entire game, then we got into foul trouble and went just 5-for-18 from the free-throw line,” Lady Hornets head coach Jay Oliphant said. “We just couldn’t rebound in clutch times.”
Sophomore guard Ceidra Coleman led Huntsville with 19 points. Junior post Ronisha Major chipped in 14 points in the loss.
The Lady Hornets return to action Friday when they head to the Lovelady tournament.
“We have to work on free-throw shooting, rebounding and finishing games,” Oliphant said. “We played lights out for three quarters, but in the last four minutes they just lost it. Once they got rattled, they really started to struggle.
“We are still trying to learn the system and we will be all right. We just need a W.”
