The early entry deadline for the Hillcrest Huntsville Half Marathon & 5K Run/Walk is Saturday. The entry fees go up after that.
That means that if you are up to running the 13.1-mile half marathon or running or walking the 5K (3.1-miles), now is the time to sign up.
The event will be held on Oct. 17. Both races start and finish at 8 a.m. in front of the Health & Kinesiology Center on the Sam Houston State University campus.
The entry fee for the half marathon is $25 and the 5K is $15 through Saturday. Both fees increase by $5 after that. If you sign up on race day, the fee is $35 for the half marathon and $25 for the 5K. All participants will receive a T-shirt and refreshments after the race.
More than 500 runners and walkers are expected to participate in the event, which is in its 31st year. The race is an event of the Seven Hills Running Club and is sponsored by Hillcrest Ford. Proceeds from the race benefit the Good Shepherd Mission and the SAAFE House in Huntsville.
A link to online registration and a printable entry form and more information about the race are available on the Seven Hills Running Club Web site at http://www.7hills.us. Or, pick up an entry form at Hillcrest Ford, Nautilus, Iron Works, the Health & Kinesiology Center or 24/7 at the Chamber of Commerce.
