Archie James Lewis, 60, of Bedias passed away Nov. 8, 2009, in Brazos County. He was born Oct. 8, 1949, in Grimes County.
A viewing will be held from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. today at Williams & Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at Bedias Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert E. Maxey presiding. Burial will follow in the Foster Cemetery.
Clinton Simpson, Charles Owens, Timothy Dickey, Keith Garrett, Roger Douglas, Sammy Douglas, Pete Rolling, Barnell Stewart and Reginald Haynes will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Lewis is a graduate of Huntsville High School’s Class of 1969 and was a member of Greater Macedonia Baptist Church. A construction worker, Mr. Lewis also was a proud veteran of the United States Army.
He is survived by his sons, Archie and Andre’ Lewis, both of Texas City; daughter, Charisma Harrison of Huntsville; brothers, Freddy Dickey of Porter and John Lewis of Huntsville; sisters, Lennie Bell Winslow and Jerry Terrell, both of Houston, Maedell Garrett of West Texas City, Willie Mae Douglas, Rennie Dickey and Mayrene Dickey, all of Texas City, Laura Garrett and Betty Garrett, both of Bedias and Jennie Dickey of Bryan; uncle, Otis Dickey of Hempstead; aunt, Annie B. Ford of Houston; grandchildren, KeAunte, KeAmorie and Shawn Lewis of Texas City, and Jazmine, Jamie and Jaderion Merchant of Huntsville; a devoted niece, Connie Dickey of Porter; god-sons Brandon Brooks, Demarcus and Donald Griffin, all of Texas City; god-daughter, Samekia Kizzee of Houston; devoted friend, Glenda Lewis; and a host of other relatives and friends.
