Kathryn Marjorie McIntyre was born Sept. 13, 1921, in Galveston, to Edwin Howard Sledge and Alma Blanchard Sledge. She passed away on Nov. 9, 2009, at age 88.
Kathryn was the glue that held her family together, and she gave generously of her time and resources to all. Kathryn was a caring daughter, wife and mother. She retired in 1984 after nearly 40 years outstanding service to Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. as a union leader, chief operator, and assistant to the District Traffic Manager.
She is survived by daughter, Maureen McIntyre and son-in-law, Buddy Aber of Huntsville; aunt, Elaine Newman of San Antonio; and niece, Gail Mead and George West of Evergreen, Colo., and numerous cousins and relatives.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church.
Services will be on Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Sam Houston Memorial Funeral Home Chapel. Internment will be Thursday, Nov. 12, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery in Houston.
