Lewis ‘Bubba’ Straughter

Funeral services for Mr. Lewis ‘Bubba’ Straughter, age 80, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery in Huntsville, where the Rev. C. Hutchinson is the pastor and the Rev. Bryant Harris will preside over the services. Public viewing will be at the Cox Funeral Home Chapel between the hours of 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Mr. Straughter was born on Nov. 3, 1928, to Louis Vernon and Idlean Straughter. He passed away on Nov. 2, 2009, in Houston.

He is survived by his wife, Velma Jean Straughter of Huntsville; sons, Gregory (Cheryl) Straughter, Godfrey (Ella) Straughter, and Reginald (Verstine) Straughter, all of Huntsville; brother, Eddie Lee Straughter of Houston; sister, Annie Davis of Detroit, Mich.; uncle, Tommie Raglin of Houston; brother-in-law, Harold Robinson of Tyler; cousin, Fay Tarver; a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
