Maudine McMillian

Maudine McMillian was born Aug. 25, 1922, in Meridian, Miss., to Columbus Howard Ingram and Mattie Ingram (Champion). She passed away on Oct. 26, 2009, in Huntsville. She was 87.

She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers and two sisters.

Maudine leaves behind to cherish her memory, four children: daughter, Elizabeth and husband Nick Dilliard; daughter, Shirley and husband Joe Lillard; son, Steve and wife Marian McMillian; and son, James Lawrence. She also left behind 11 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and numerous other relatives and friends.

Maudine worked almost 20 years at the Tastee Freeze in Huntsville and also became caregiver to many individuals in the community. She loved the outdoors and was always busy with raking leaves and taking care of her flowers in her yard. Maudine loved gospel music, reading a good book and animals. Her caring and loving ways will be missed.

The family would like to thank Dr. Knuth and all the staff at Ella Smither Geriatric Center in Huntsville for the care that was given to Maudine over the years.

Graveside service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2009, at 2 p.m. at McAdams Cemetery in Walker County. The family will visit with friends and relatives from 1-2 p.m. at graveside prior to the service.
