Robert Lee Washington

HUNTSVILLE — Robert Lee Washington, 84, of Huntsville passed away March 16, 2010, in Montgomery County. He was born Dec. 28, 1925, in Dallas.

Viewing will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Williams and Sons Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 20, 2010, at 1 p.m. at Lone Star Missionary Baptist Church. The Rev. Douglas DeBose will preside.

Tarek Reece, Kevin Reece, Cade Reece, Thomas Reece, Delwvin Oliphant and Billy Goffney will serve as pallbearers. Burial will be in  the Houston National Cemetery.

A retired educator, known to his students as Dr. Washington, he taught for more than 35 years in the Huntsville and Trinity school districts. Dr. Washington was a very accomplished man, a United States Army Veteran, earning a PhD from Berkley University, Cali., and a master’s from Sam Houston State University just to name a few.

He is survived by his daughter, Gertlenith (Neat) Perry of Huntsville; brother, Rogers Washington of Fresno, Calif.; sister, Florence Harper of Fresno, Calif.;  four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends.
