Francis Raymond Swanson of Lake Jackson, Texas died in his home on July 4, 2009, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
He was born in Madison, Kan. on June 1, 1931, to Albin and Ruth Swanson, the youngest of five children. He moved to Winfield, Kan. in his early teens and graduated from Winfield High School in 1949. He served two years in the United States Army and worked in the Winfield area before moving to Wichita, Kan. in 1958. He moved to Huntsville on July 4, 1974, and lived there until his retirement in 2002. He taught upholstery at the Ferguson and Ellis prisons for many years.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Leann Ryan Swanson; his daughter, Leann Senkyrik of Lake Jackson and her son, Justin Senkyrik; his son, Al Swanson and his wife, Teri, and their son, Johnathan of Montgomery; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 7, 2009, at Stroud Funeral Home in Clute, Texas, with burial to follow at Angleton Cemetery.
