HUNTSVILLE —
Cherrye Ann Gullick (Matlock) was born in Leonard, Texas on May 12, 1915, to Rev. Robert E. Matlock and Dora Bates Matlock. Cherrye passed away in Huntsville on July 27, 2010, at age 95.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Aldon Laroy Gullick; parents; brothers, Arleigh Matlock and Johnny Matlock; and grandsons, Glen Gullick and Bruce Gullick.
Those left to cherish her memories are her son, Robert E. Gullick and wife Mary Lou; daughters, Sandra S. Smalley and husband Dennis, and Rebecca C. Gibbons; grandchildren, Laura K., Jimmy E., Robert L. and Dennis W. Gullick, Richard G. Smalley, Susan D. Neal and Stephanie D. Gibbons; numerous great grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sister, Robbie George; two brothers, Joe Matlock and Bill Matlock; and nieces and nephews.
She loved family and friends and was the happiest when she had a house full of company.
She loved to travel, especially in the Rocky Mountains. Before her death, she was the last living charter member of the First Cumberland Presbyterian Church of Houston, which was founded in 1945.
A Memorial Service for Cherrye will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday, July 30, 2010, at Phelps Methodist Church in Phelps. Interment will be in Forest Park Lawndale in Houston.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Memorial Fund at Phelps Methodist Church.
