HUNTSVILLE —
Now in its 24th year, the Trade Expo and Taste of Huntsville is back with more prizes, fun and food from all across Huntsville.
The Huntsville-Walker County Chamber of Commerce sponsors the event, set for Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Walker County Fairgrounds. Shannon Higbie, chamber office manager, said spaces are still available for both the Trade Expo and the Taste of Huntsville if any business wants to have an exhibit.
“There's going to be something for everyone at the Trade Expo,” Higbie said. “We're looking at having a moonwalk for the families. KSAM will be emceeing the event for us from their booth. I would say 60 to 70 percent of my exhibitors will be giving away door prizes – everything from gift certificates to a toy box.”
This year's corporate sponsor is Wiesner of Huntsville, while the Taste of Huntsville will be sponsored by Pine Tree Publishing. TEAM Dodge and Randall Reid's Hillcrest Ford are the event's transportation sponsors.
“The corporate sponsor (Wiesner) has a booth right at the front door and will have cars on display throughout the exhibit hall and in front of the building,” Higbie said. “The transportation sponsors will have a section outside the front door where they can display vehicles and they will also have booths inside. There will be a wide selection of autos to look at. We have all three of our major auto dealers participating this year which we're really excited about.”
Other exhibitors include Easco Heating and Air Conditioning, Magnolia Lake, Heartfield Florist, Rita B. Huff Humane Society, the Walker County Sheriff's Office Citizens On Patrol, Thoreau Woods Unitarian Church, Wally's Party Factory and Fuzzy's Taco Shop.
The Taste of Huntsville will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. and a $5 ticket will buy a chance to taste food from Fuzzy's Taco Shop, Carbonero Rotisserie Charbroiled Chicken and Steak, Double Dave's Pizzaworks, Potato Shack, Bennie J's Smoke Pit, Conroe Coca-Cola, Classic Fare Catering and Huntsville Memorial Hospital.
A $500 cash giveaway will be held at 7:45 p.m. and attendees do have to be present to win.
Free tickets to the Trade Expo are available at the chamber office on 11th street and at exhibitor businesses around town. Tickets are $2 at the door the night of the event.
