LUFKIN — The National Weather Service has confirmed that nine tornadoes touched down during a Dec. 23 storm — which included a tornado that damaged dozens of homes and businesses in Lufkin.
The weather service said Tuesday that seven of the tornadoes were in East Texas. The other two were in Louisiana and Arkansas. Only one minor injury was reported.
The tornado outbreak caused damage to buildings and homes and downed trees across the area.
The National Weather Service will spend the rest of the week trying to determine whether any more tornadoes touched down.
