Novark announces candidacy for Precinct 4 commissioner

Frank Novark of New Waverly announced his candidacy Tuesday for Walker County Precinct 4 commissioner.

Novark has resided in Walker County for 42 years and will be running on the Democratic ticket.

He said the adage about politics and religion is wrong.

“I don’t think you need to be involved in politics if you don’t have religion,” he said. “I have great concern about the roads. I can and will get them back on track.

“I will be the same people person as the late commissioner Joe Malak. He cared a lot about his people as I do.”

Novark said he also realizes “you have to watch the money very close. There will be not any loose spending.”

He said another area he would like to work on is a place for children to play in a park.

“Keeping law enforcement well paid is another issue I am interested in pursuing,” he said. “Because we lose good ones because they get a better job offer, we need true and honest county government.

“We need to be on our county roads five days a week. That is a must. I will also fight until I get our drug task force back. Our kids need this.

“I will be a very visible commissioner. Precinct 4 needs a 24-hour a day commissioner. A lot of people have come to me and called me, asking for me to run for this office.”

Novark said he has received good support and “if they people want change, they will make it. I will note no to any new tax increase and I hope mud-slinging is not a part of either party. Let the voters decide this.”

Novark said he attends St. Joseph Catholic Church where he serves as an usher and he is a member of the Knights of Columbus.
