Three Huntsville businesses have applied for a Mixed Beverage Late Hours License while a fourth is filling out the necessary paperwork with the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission.
David Zuniga of the Huntsville Steak Co., doing business as the Stardust Room Restaurant and Bar, and George Spentzos, doing business as Humphries and The Jolly Fox Club, have filed applications with the TABC for the late hours license.
Shenanigan’s has contacted City Secretary Lee Woodward at City Hall about filing an application with the TABC.
The four are among 21 businesses in Huntsville with Mixed Beverage Permits, allowing them to file for the TABC license to stay open until 2 a.m.
The City Council approved an ordinance to extend the hours for the sale of alcoholic beverages by two hours on Nov. 12.
With the late hours permit, businesses can start staying open for the additional two hours Dec. 1.
The ordinance added a new subsection titled “Extended hours for the sale of alcoholic beverages” that includes “a holder of a mixed beverage late hours permit may sell and offer for sale mixed beverages between midnight and 2 a.m. on any day” and “a holder of a retail dealer’s on-premise late hours license may sell, offer for sale and deliver wine (as provided under Section 105.04) or beer between midnight and 2 a.m. on any day.”
In a separate vote, council members adopted an amendment where the impact of extending the hours will be studied at nine and 18 months.
Other businesses with the mixed beverage permits are Aramark Educational Services, Bob Luby’s Seafood Grill, Los Panchitos, Chili’s Bar and Grill, Rodeo Mexican Restaurant and Bar #2, Zach’s Bar and Grill, The Junction, Murski’s Ice House, Lizard’s, Puerto Aventura, Tokyo Grill & Sushi.
Also, Fat Boy’s, Homestead on 19th Street, Don Rafa’s Tex Mex, Margaritas Mexican Restau-rant and Cantina, Bandera Grill and Country Inn Steak & Seafood.
