Huntsville Police are seeking more information in the aggravated robbery of a local man at an apartment complex Thursday afternoon.
According to Sgt. Jim Barnes of the HPD, the offense occurred at approximately 2 p.m. at Sandbrook Apartments on Old Houston Road.
The victim was in the parking lot of the complex when three black males approached him. One produced a handgun and demanded his belongings. The victim’s father, who was nearby, shouted at the assailants, causing them to quickly flee, but not before taking the victim’s cellular phone and wallet.
HPD patrol officers and detectives were immediately dispatched to the scene, where one suspect was taken into custody for questioning and a nearby home was searched. It was unclear if the suspect was actually involved in the robbery or was simply a bystander.
Barnes said witnesses reported a silver Lincoln Town Car leaving the area shortly after the robbery that my have contained the suspects.
Anyone with information on the case is urged to contact Walker County Crime Stoppers at (936) 294-9494.
