Court to consider filling ESD post
The Walker County Commissioners Court will consider making an appointment to the Emergency Service District No. 1 when it meets at 9 a.m. today in special session at the courthouse.
A brief 10-item agenda faces the five-member court.
M. Lee Murrah has requested that he be appointed to fill a vacancy on the board of commissioners that was created when the term of Nick Gann expired Dec. 31, 2009.
Murrah currently serves on the Walker County Historical Commission and on the board of directors of Independent Communities Inc.
The ESD covers the Riverside area.
Other commissioners opn the ESD are Laura Hon, Dick Goldin, Charles Brandewie and Paula White.
Their terms expire Dec. 31, 2010.
Also on today’s agenda:
• Discuss and/or approve minutes for Jan. 19, 2010.
• Presentation by Jim Hughes with CSR.
• Discuss and/or approve appointing member to the Emergency Service District #1.
• Discuss and/or approve FY2010 first quarter reports for the volunteer fire departments.
• Discuss and/or approve action regarding EMS and Department of State Health Services.
• Discuss and/or approve bill paying.
• Discuss and/or approve claims/invoices submitted for payment.
• Discuss and/or approve Letter of Agreement with First National Bank extending the Bank Depository Services Agreement from Dec. 31, 2009, to May 31, 2010.
• Notice of Intent to issue Certificate of Obligation for an excavator for Road & Bridge Precinct #3
• Discuss and/or approve Interlocal Agreement between the City of New Waverly and Walker County for Environmental Enforcement and On-Site Sewage Regulation.
