HUNTSVILLE —
A Shepherd man charged with murder after stabbing another Shepherd man outside a Huntsville nightclub Dec. 30 was back in jail Friday morning after a burglary warrant was issued for him.
Cody Ray Walters, 21, turned himself into Texas Ranger Steve Jeter Friday morning after learning of the warrant, which was issued to the Huntsville Police Department on March 4.
According to HPD Detective G.P. Shearer, the warrant, for burglary of a vehicle, was issued based on witness statements from the night of Dec. 30 claiming Walters was involved in a vehicle burglary in the parking lot of Shenanigan’s nightclub, where the stabbing occurred.
Shearer said it is unclear if the vehicle burglary and the stabbing are related.
Walters was magistrated Friday morning by Walker County Precinct 4 Justice of the Peace James F. Mature and booked into the Walker County Jail. He was released on bond later that day.
Walters was arrested Jan. 7 and charged with murder after allegedly stabbing John Wayne McCrary, 22, in the Shenanigan’s parking lot. No trial date for the charge has been set.
He was out of jail on a $100,000 bond when the bond was revoked Feb. 25, landing him back in jail for a brief period until his bond was again paid.
