Glenn Peck has announced his candidacy for Precinct 3 justice of the peace, running in the March 2 Democratic primary.
Peck has lived in Walker County since 1969 when he moved here from La Grange to attend Sam Houston State University.
Peck majored in agriculture at SHSU and later retuned to take criminal justice classes.
“I lived on the College Farm and worked at the dairy for John Snelgrove,” Peck said. “My wife and I now live on and manage the John Snelgrove Ranch for Donald Peck and Kay Snelgrove Peck, just south of Riverside where we raise Black Angus cattle.”
Peck worked offshore where he was promoted to offshore superintendent and supervised up to 250 employees.
“In 1983, I began working for Big D Mobile Homes and supervised employees in the transportation and installation of mobile homes,” he said. “I later began my own mobile home transportation business which I sold in 1993.
“After selling my business, I began employment at the Texas Deparment of Criminal Justice where I am presently employed as an asbestos abatement supervisor.”
Peck is a lifetime member of the Walker County Fair Association and a 15-year active member of the rodeo committee.
He also has served on the WCFA Rodeo Scholarship Committee.
“I strongly support the youth of Walker County,” he said. “I believe my supervisory experience and education make me more than qualified for the position of justice of the peace. When elected justice of the peace, I pledge to you that I will be fair and impartial.
“I have studied the county budget and plan to continue to do so. I cannot and will not tolerate the waste of tax dollars.
“We have raised our children in Walker County and now have grandchildren and believe the time is right to give back to this great community as your justice of the peace for Precinct 3.”
