Families looking to enjoy a night of diverse music, food and cultures are invited to attend Huntsville Cultural Diversity Forum’s annual Festival of United Cultures at the Walker County Fairgrounds tonight.
This is the third year that the Huntsville Cultural Diversity Forum will hold the event in which families can come and enjoy food and a wide variety of live entertainment.
“This event is an opportunity to bring all diversity together and enjoy entertainment and food,” said Mary Novark, a member of the Huntsville Cultural Diversity Forum.
The festivities will start with a dinner at 6 p.m. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Thessalonia Baptist Church and several other churches will be providing food for the evening.
Following the dinner, there will be performances from local groups that will showcase many of the different cultures in Huntsville.
Some of the performances after the dinner will feature the talent of local dance and singing groups.
“This year, we’re actually going to have more solo performances, recently we’ve run across a lot of great talent here in Huntsville and we’re excited to be featuring that talent this year,” said entertainment coordinator, John Escobedo.
In addition to enjoying an evening of dinner and live entertainment people attending will be able to check out different booths that will feature information on different cultures.
“We host this event because Huntsville is composed of many different cultures and for the past two years we’ve been trying to bring those cultures together and introduce the cultures to everyone in the community,” said Escobedo.
For the past two years, the event has been held in February. However, due to conflict with other events it was decided to hold the event in July.
In the past, the event has been well attended and it has been a lot of fun for families that have showed up, Novark said.
