HUNTSVILLE — The Huntsville Public Library will be closed Friday while workers complete temporary electrical work that will allow the building to continue to function during its yearlong construction period.

According to City Librarian Linda Dodson, the contractor, LDF Construction of Spring, will be rerouting electrical lines until the building’s new electrical room is built.

“We’re looking forward to the new library; unfortunately, there will be times we have to close,” Dodson said. “The contractor and city staff are working to keep those closings to a minimum. We hope the community will not be too inconvenienced.”

Dodson said the library will re-open at its regular time of 10 a.m. on Saturday, and that library patrons will not be penalized for books due on Friday.

“We are extending the due date on items due on Friday — they will not be considered overdue until Monday morning at 10 a.m.,” she said. “We would like to remind customers that they can renew most things they have checked out via the Library’s online catalog at www.MyHuntsvilleLibrary.com.

“They can also call the Library at (936) 291-5472 and leave a message to renew what they have out.”
