HUNTSVILLE — The Huntsville Public Library will host a spring break children’s program given by the Walker County Master Gardeners March 17 at 2 p.m.
The program, entitled “Garden Sprouts,” will include both a story time session and an outdoor planting activity and will be geared toward teaching children how to sprout plants of their very own from seeds.
Billie Lee, a former librarian and Master Gardeners, will present the program with help from several other Master Gardeners. Lee will first hold a story time session, reading gardening themed books to children, then will move on to a lesson on the ins and outs of seed-sprouting.
The lesson will be followed by an outdoor planting activity on the library grounds.
The Master Gardeners, a non-profit organization, hosts several programs for adult library patrons each year, but according to library Children’s Coordinator Kim Mason, this is the first time they have performed a program for children.
