Shooting suspect arrested

HUNTSVILLE — A Huntsville man wanted in connection with a July 15 shooting that left one man injured was apprehended by police Tuesday afternoon.

Fredrick Roshard Stanford, 24, was apprehended at a trailer home in the 1000 block of Thomason Street shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday after police received information that he was hiding the area.

According to Lt. Jim Barnes of the HPD Criminal Investigations Division, detectives arrived at the trailer home Tuesday afternoon with HPD SWAT Team members standing by.

Barnes and Sgt. Ken Foulch knocked on the door of the residence and spoke to a woman Barnes described as Stanford’s girlfriend. A short time later, Stanford agreed to surrender to police.

“He basically came out willingly and we were able to take him into custody,” Barnes said.

A second suspect in the shooting, 24-year-old Travis Jermaine Harrell, is still at large.

“The whole CID has been putting a lot of pressure out to get these two shooters arrested,” Barnes said. “It was a great effort by the whole division.”

Barnes said the victim in the shooting has been released from the hospital and is recovering after a gunshot wound to his abdomen
