HUNTSVILLE — Huntsville police are seeking two suspects after an attempted tire theft at a local apartment complex Monday morning.
Just at 6 a.m. patrol officers were dispatched to the parking lot of Forest Gate Apartments near the intersection of I-45 north and state Highway 30 after receiving a report of two black males attempting to remove the wheels from a parked sedan.
When officers arrive, they found the two suspects fleeing the scene and pursued on foot. The suspects eventually escaped.
According to Sgt. Jim Barnes of the HPD Criminal Investigation Division, the suspects had removed two tires from the vehicle, and left it propped on cinderblocks, but were unable to take the stolen property with them when they fled.
The value of the property the suspects attempted to steal is estimated to be $3,000.
Barnes said the HPD is still working to identify the two suspects who fled the scene, and is also investigating a possible connection between this incident and the theft of 16 tires and wheels from Wiesner Automotive on March 2.
Anyone with information on either incident is urged to contact the HPD at (936) 291-5480 or Walker County Crime Stoppers at (936) 294-9494.
