SHSU theatre to present ‘Great Gromboolian Plain’

HUNTSVILLE — The Sam Houston State University Department of Theatre and Dance will present “The Great Gromboolian Plain” the first week in March.

 Performances are set for 8 p.m. March 2 through March 6 with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on March 6.

All performances are in the University Theatre Center Showcase theatre.

“The Great Gromboolian Plain” is a love story that revolves around young woman, Dinah (Teresa Zimmermann), and her ability to travel through time.

Dinah is placed in a psychiatric institution by her sister April (Adrian Anderson) when she refuses to reveal where their father’s long lost poems are hidden.

Dinah’s struggle is further complicated by her instant attraction to a new, mysterious patient Magellan (Jack Ivy).

The cast also includes SHSU musical theatre majors Garrett Line (Young Man) and                  Kelly Peters (Nurse).

“The Great Gromboolian Plain” is directed by senior theatre major Angela Bell.

The production is designed completely by SHSU theatre majors Vilija Tuminas, props/ set); Ryan Brazil, sound; Sara Luke, costumes; and Shannon Parker, lights.

SHSU theatre major Jeremy Brown is stage manager.

Tickets are $8 for general admission.

“The Great Groomboolian Plain” contains adult content and language.  Children under the age of 3 will not be admitted.
