Jean Marsh, left, who chairs the Huntsville-based Texas Thyme Unit of The Herb Society of America, was among the speakers during Wednesday morning’s Herbs for the Holidays presentation at City Hall. Marsh said she grows a variety of herbs in her flower beds and they live throughout the winter because they are evergreens. She said herbs such as oregano, rosemary, sage and thyme that grown in the yard can be used in food preparation as well as making decorations. “The best things about it is that they smell good,” she said. “They make your house smell good. We like to promote herbs because they are hardy.” The Texas Thyme Unit was organized in March 2009.
