Following graduation next May, New Waverly seniors Jesse Elias, left, and Guadalupe Garza, right, will trade in their maroon and white jerseys for camaflouged uniforms as the pair will begin their service in the U.S. Army. Elias and Garza didn’t join the Bulldogs’ football team until late August because of basic training, but have brought plenty of leadership to New Waverly. With a win over Groveton tonight, the Bulldogs will clinch a berth to the playoffs and at least a share of their second straight district championship.
