HUNTSVILLE — Yoakum native Joe Mahac, 81, points to a photograph taken in the fall 1946 when he received his Eagle Scout Award during halftime of a University of Texas football game. Mahac, who lives in Point Blank, was a member of the Longhorn band and was one of 12 Scouts receiving the award. He is shown attaching a pin to his mother Glenna’s lapel. She had presented him with the Eagle award. Mahac loaned the photo to the 100 Years of Boy Scout Memorabilia Exhibit at the Walker Education Center along with a document showing when he was a Cub Scout and promoted to the Lion Rank on Nov. 21, 1940, by the Yoakum Scouts. He also loaned programs from when he was a member of the Tonkawa Court Dancers of Austin and the Order of the Arrow in the Capitol Area Council.
