Mr. and Mrs. Ricky Lynn Carpenter of Hempstead, Texas, are pleased to announce the engagement and upcoming marriage of their daughter Karie Lynn Carpenter, to Gary Wayne West Jr. of Katy, Texas. Gary is the son of Bonnie Sue Beckendorff West of Katy, Texas and Gary Wayne West, Sr. of Houston, Texas.

The bride-elect is the granddaughter of Kathryn Hardy and the late J.C. Hardy of Huntsville, and a 2007 graduate of Texas A&M; University. Karie is employed by Katy Independent School District, and is currently teaching at West Memorial Junior High in Katy.

The prospective groom is a graduate of the Houston Fire Academy and is employed as a Firefighter/Paramedic at the Houston Fire Department Station 46, and part time firefighter at Willowfork Fire Department in Katy.

A March 28, 2009, wedding is planned at the Houston Oaks Golf and Country Club in Hockley, Texas.
